Digitalisation at Forstinger picks up full speed

Automotive accessories supplier Forstinger, with 88 branches across Austria, relies on Barcotec's best-in-class enterprise mobility and mobile device management (MDM) devices.

Forstinger Branch

For almost 60 years, car parts accessories specialist Forstinger has been offering an all-round carefree package for the Austrians' four-wheeled darling. Because in addition to tyres, original spare parts, rims and much more, a vehicle can also be serviced and maintained in one of the 86 Forstinger workshops. This service is offered not only for cars, but also for motorbikes, mopeds and bicycles. And especially now that the tyre change season is in full swing again, it makes sense to have your car checked for the cold season with a winter check, for example, and to improve processes.

For this reason, the company approached the Auto-ID specialist Barcotec last year in order to jointly exploit dormant potential for improving processes in the branch and workshop.

A well-rounded product

After a detailed analysis phase and an extensive product evaluation process with regard to haptics, readability of the codes, connectivity to the ERP system, after-sales service and ergonomics, the decision was made in spring of this year in favour of the products of the manufacturer DENSO. Professional mobile terminals from DENSO are used in Austria in large numbers in many sectors such as retail, production, logistics and healthcare. The WLAN infrastructure was also provided by Barcotec.

The project was rounded off by the mobile device management "m-Cloud", a private cloud solution from Barcotec hosted in Austria, which was also awarded the "Ö-Cloud" seal by the Federal Ministry for Digitalisation in the summer. This gives Forstinger's IT team access to all devices in the branch and logistics at all times and allows them to manage them centrally and time-efficiently.

Coherent culture

The fact that the values of the two new business partners are also well matched is reinforced by the fact that Barcotec also operates its own service centres in Austria for the mobile professional devices and that only original spare parts are used. This, in turn, considerably increases the longevity of the products and ensures that customers can use them with confidence. Forstinger is very satisfied with the cooperation so far.

We got to know Barcotec as a competent consulting partner who gave us a good overview of the market and knows the way to implement a project with many end devices. The MDM makes our daily work in IT much easier and provides us with transparency and clarity.
CDO Forstinger

In addition to using the devices in the branch for classic shop processes such as stocktaking, re-ordering, etc., replenishment of spare parts and work recording are particularly important digitisation steps in the workshops. The mobile terminals function as multifunctional devices and thus represent maximum investment protection.

At Barcotec, Sales Manager Alexander Humer is pleased about the project: "A company like Forstinger is a big player in Austria. I am personally very pleased that this cooperation has been successful."
