Datalogic Magellan 3600VSi: More power in a compact design
The Datalogic Magellan 3600VSi has been designed for modern checkout counters and self-checkout systems where installation space is limited but scanning performance must not be compromised. Particularly in busy retail environments, this compact scanner helps to reduce waiting times and make the payment process noticeably smoother for customers.
By combining barcode scanning and UHF RFID, the Magellan 3600VSi enables effective theft prevention whilst simultaneously improving the traceability of items – from goods receipt through the point of sale to returns. Compared to traditional anti-theft solutions, this creates greater transparency and security directly at the checkout.
Depending on the model, an integrated 1-megapixel colour camera is available. It is suitable for checkout monitoring, image capture and image-based applications such as item recognition or ticket-switching detection. Furthermore, the scanner supports modern code formats such as GS1 Digital Link, Digimarc, composite codes and OCR. This allows additional information to be utilised during the checkout process, for example for managing expiry dates, for recall processes or for targeted customer-specific promotions.
In daily use, the scanner impresses with high motion tolerance and fast decoding. The throughput for 2D codes is 25 per cent higher than that of the previous generation. Barcodes on displays, as well as damaged or poorly printed labels, are also reliably captured. Discreet, adaptive lighting ensures a more pleasant user experience.
The Magellan 3600VSi is also designed for modern retail environments in terms of management and integration. Software updates, device diagnostics and centralised monitoring of larger installations can be efficiently managed via suitable management platforms. Interfaces and tools for Windows, Linux and Android environments are available for integration into existing system landscapes. The configuration can be conveniently and flexibly adapted to the specific application.
The innovative design of the Magellan 3600VSi is complemented by sustainable energy efficiency, with a power consumption of just 1.2 watts, a high proportion of TÜV-certified recycled materials and recyclable packaging.
