More than 800,000 parts, some of them no bigger than the head of a pin, are located at the site in Vienna alone. For the main inventory, around 55 people were deployed over two days to count the parts and transfer them to lists. This process was to be accelerated and costs reduced at the same time.

The central requirement in the implementation was to capture the data as simply as possible via the existing barcodes using scanners and to transfer it to SAP.

The central requirement in the implementation was to capture the data as simply as possible via the already existing barcodes using scanners and to transfer it to SAP.

Barcotec has proven itself as a supplier with almost 20 years of cooperation and was able to more than fulfil the requirements in this case: The barcode mobile terminals BHT-1300 from Denso, score with a high degree of robustness paired with handiness and simple operation. The existing software also continues to run flawlessly on the BHT-1300 mobile data collection devices. This upward compatibility gives the customer the necessary confidence and the security of being able to work with them for many decades.

With the new method, 25 people complete the entire inventory within one day. In addition, production can continue for at least half a day longer. Thus, the costs of the inventory could be halved and more time is available for productive work. The investment in the Barcotec devices has already paid off after the first use.

Although many of the employees were coming into contact with mobile data capture devices for the first time, the reactions to the changeover were positive throughout. The training took no more than 10 minutes. Especially the ease of use was praised: the handiness due to the small size of the BHT-1300 and the angled scan head stood out as a big plus. The latter ensures a clear view of the display, so that the employee has all important information in view at all times.

We are pleased about the excellent cooperation with Barcotec, which has rightly existed for many years. The competent technicians respond quickly and support us in all matters. We can only recommend Barcotec for a cooperation.
