Digital process automation brings transparency and efficiency to tile wholesaler Beinkofer
As part of a new ERP implementation, the Austrian tile wholesaler Beinkofer has comprehensively digitised its logistics processes in collaboration with the auto-ID specialist Barcotec. The aim was to eliminate existing inefficiencies, create transparency and lay the foundations for further growth.
Initial situation and challenge
Before the project began, Beinkofer was looking for an integrated system for data collection in its warehouse and logistics operations. The warehouse processes were in need of improvement: an incomplete stock overview and time-consuming order picking were no longer acceptable. With increasing demands for speed and accuracy, it became clear that sustainable digitalisation was essential. This was not just about introducing new technologies, but about a holistic concept that integrates existing systems, optimises processes and safeguards day-to-day operations.
Solution: Integrated Auto-ID and mobile computer strategy
This was not simply a matter of supplying equipment. Beinkofer required a future-proof solution that combined mobile computers, software integration and ongoing operational support within a single comprehensive package. At the same time, the roll-out had to take place without causing any significant disruption to day-to-day business. Barcotec implemented a bespoke end-to-end solution for mobile data capture based on barcode technology. At the heart of the system is the easyMITS software solution, combined with high-performance hardware and mobile printing for field staff. All components were seamlessly integrated into the existing ERP environment.
The end-to-end approach was crucial here: from consultancy and technical implementation through to ongoing support – everything from a single source. This not only created a technological solution but also established a stable, scalable process framework.
Added value and strategic advantages
The new solution delivers significant improvements across several areas:
- Sustained efficiency gains through digitised warehouse and order-picking processes
- Significant reduction in error rates through real-time data capture
- Time savings for field staff through mobile printing and immediate documentation
- Greater process reliability and complete transparency throughout the logistics chain
- Scalable system architecture as a foundation for future growth
Furthermore, Barcotec stands out clearly in the market: whilst many suppliers focus solely on product delivery, Barcotec takes a partnership-based approach underpinned by a deep understanding of processes. The combination of over 37 years’ expertise in the field of auto-ID, local market knowledge and proactive service ensures that solutions are not only implemented but also operated successfully in the long term.
Barcotec’s project team added: “We are delighted that a long-established Austrian company has taken another step forward in process digitalisation with our solution.”
Outlook
All relevant business units have now been integrated into the new IT infrastructure. The focus is now on the ongoing optimisation of existing processes and the further exploitation of opportunities for automation. In this context, we are actively working to strengthen our collaborative partnerships.
